Building on the success of the First GC4W International Women’s Day Awards celebration at the Harvard Club of New York in 2014. The Global Connections for Women foundation (GC4W) continues its rich tradition of celebrating the accomplishments of women on International Women’s Day. These outstanding women are being recognized for making a real difference in their industry and in the fight for Women Empowerment and Gender Equality.

The 2015 GC4W International Women’s Day Awards & Fundraising Gala is scheduled for Saturday, March 7th, 2015 in Washington, DC at the Library of Congress, hosted by a Former Victoria Secret Model and a renowned TV Host.  According to the GC4W Founder and Executive Director, Lilian O. Ajayi “the 2015 host city is a vibrant global hub not just for power and politics, but for social change and transformational leadership – which our host committee describes as the perfect site to celebrate the 2015 International Women’s Day.” The proceeds raised at this event will be used to build new classrooms, tables and chairs and to provide school supplies for the disable school children of the City of Karamajiji, Abuja. 

The 2015 Class of “Global Women Champions” hail from both the public and private sectors – with ground-breaking distinctions including; First Female President to leading women in Entrepreneurship, Finance, Fashion, Sports, Policy, Social Innovators and Community Advocates. These noted individuals joins us from across the globe including the United States, United Kingdom, Tehran, Malawi, Uganda, Nigeria, South Africa, and more.  Newly incorporated into the 2015 celebration, is a new award category that aims to celebrate prominent key stakeholders – who have excelled in their commitment to women empowerment and gender equality. Making GC4W foundation the very first organization to present such an honor on International Women’s Day.

Highlights from the 2014 GC4W International Women’s Day Awards & Fundraising Gala:

The 2014 Class of GC4W “Global Women Champion” award recipients were Jenna Goodreau (Forbes Women Pioneer and Business Insider Editor), Jenna Fernandes (CEO of Carebooker.com), Amy Hixon (Former Victoria Secret Model & CEO Tech company), Teresa Clarke (CEO of Africa.com and Member of President Obama’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa), Paula Cole (Grammy Award Winning Artist), Leymah Gbowee (Noble Peace Laurette), H.E. Ambassador U. Joy Ogwu (the First Female Permanent Representation of Nigeria to the UN), Chief Temitope Ajayi (Mama Diaspora and Distinguish Delegate of Nigeria), Jehmu Greene (Fox News TV Host & Community Advocate), and several others.

Lastly, “Connecting for Women Empowerment” is the theme of GC4W’s 2015 International Women’s Day celebration, to focus attention on the progress made to address the 3rd Goal of the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The 3rd goal of the Millennium Development Goals aims to promote gender equality and women empowerment. GC4W foundation was founded in response to this UN mandate and the foundation’s aim to enrich the lives of 100 thousand women and youth by the end of 2015 is strategically aligned to support the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
