Summary: Safra Catz is an Israeli-born American business executive. She has been an executive at Oracle Corporation ( Oracle offers a comprehensive and fully integrated stack of cloud applications, platform services, and engineered systems having deployments in more than 145 countries) since April 1999, and a board member since 2001. On September 18, 2014, Oracle announced that Larry Ellison will step down as CEO and that Safra Catz along with Mark Hurd has been named as the new CEOs of Oracle. She is also a member of the board of directors of HSBC Holdings, one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organizations. Before joining Oracle Corporation, Ms. Katz was at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, a global investment banking group (since 1986) where she was a Managing Director from February 1997 to March 1999.

A: The most significant barrier to female leadership is the actual lack of females in leadership. The best advice I can give to women is to go out and start something, ideally their own businesses. If you can’t see a path for leadership within your own company, go blaze a trail of your own.
