For Black History Month, the Global Connections for Women Foundation (GC4W) is paying a special tribute to the “leading ladies” in the award winning film “Hidden Figures – featuring Oscar nominated Actress Taraji P. Henson (@tarajiphenson), Oscar winning Actress Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae (@janellemonae).

The incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson – brilliant African American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of #astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.”

@Gc4women ❤ Thank you all for honoring history and the unsung female heroes in NASA.

The film has garnered critical and commercial success, taking in $54 million at the box office after four weeks in theaters and surprising everyone with its tremendous staying power — it also received several awards nominations. Hidden Figures tells the true story of three trailblazing African-American women —Katherine Johnson (Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Monae) — who all worked at NASA and helped launch the first Americans into orbit, and later helped the country win the space race against Russia.
