The time is now, and in recognition of International Women’s Day 2018, the official day to commemorate the achievements and dedication of women around the world. On women’s month, we want to bring light to the improvements in women’s tangible rights and their overall advancement in society.

Now, more than ever, there’s a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress in gender parity. There’s a strong call to #PressforProgress motivating and uniting friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive. To further demonstrate GC4W’s relentless support for this worldwide community, below we highlighted our most prided achievements of the last year below:

GC4W 100 Women List

In the summer of 2017, we published our first ever #GC4W100 Women List, an alphabetical list of inspiring women and global shapers from diverse professional disciplines, and it was met with immense success. Our favorite part of the launch was reading the collective outpour of heartfelt congratulations, inspiring messages, and stories shared from supporters, fans and readers on how inspired they felt because of the women on our list.

Microsoft Education Planet 50-50 Project

The Global Connections for Women Foundation in collaboration with TeachSDGs has created the project “Planet 50-50 by 2030” to teach children around the world about the United Nations’ SDG Goal 5: To improve Gender Equality, and to work towards creating solutions that will end the inequalities that continue to exist in our society. We believe that courses of these nature can reap powerful, positive benefits when taken seriously by members of society. We encourage individuals of all ages and backgrounds to enroll in the certificate program to gain a better understanding about the current measures being taken to reach long-term gender equality goals around the world.

UNDP Expert Panel at the 2017 AEC

Lilian Ajayi-Ore, Founder & CEO of the Global Connections For Women Foundation and SV-NED INC partner, served as one of the guest speakers at the United Nations Economic Development Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She served on the panel of Inclusive resource governance as a driver of structural transformation, and additionally took part in the panel discussion on inclusive governance. There were also positive lessons to be learned  on how to improve institutional arrangements that govern resource wealth, as Ms. Ajayi-Ore and other expert panelist discussed the inclusion of greater transparency, accountability, progressive taxation systems and translating natural resource wealth into national wealth.

GC4W’s News Content Pages

In order to further highlight the monumental or everyday achievements of today’s women, GC4W has created two news content pages on gc4women.org: our Women In Leadership and Women in Society News pages. While these pages cover similar stories, they more specifically highlight leadership stories of well-known women activists and everyday women, respectively. At GC4W, we believe that it is our responsibility to shed light on all accomplishments of women around the world. By making female achievements more commonplace, we can do our part to close the gender gap that often pervades the minds of many members of society.
