12 Creative S’mores Recipes
S’mores! Need I say more? Summer isn’t complete without them. Although we’re not completely sure where the classic campfire dessert came from, the first published “Some More” recipe appeared in 1927 in a Girl Scouts handbook. As awesome as the traditional graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow s’more is, let your taste buds discover a whole new world during your next campfire with these fun new combinations.
First, how to roast the perfect marshmallow.
A good s’more first starts with the most important ingredient—A perfectly-roasted marshmallow. Ever wondered how to get it golden brown on the outside, and soft on the inside (unless, of course, you prefer it burnt!)? Follow these steps:
- Build a fire ahead of time, so that coals form.
- Get the right roasting stick. A good roasting stick should be long enough, sturdy and pointed.
- Roast just one marshmallow at a time instead of stacking a bunch on top of each other. It’s easier to get a good, toasted surface on your marshmallow this way.
- Cook your marshmallow directly over the hot coals. The coals will perfectly caramelize the sugar in the marshmallow. Turn the marshmallow gradually as it browns. When the marshmallow has a brown coating on all sides, it’s done!
Now, let’s take that marshmallow masterpiece and create the coolest s’more ever. Which one of these recipes speaks to you?
