Angela Bassett To Young Black Women: ‘When You Walk In The Room, Know That You Have Everything They’re Looking For’

Angela Bassett has consistently set a shining example for women in Hollywood throughout the course of her career and she has a few words of advice for those who may be aiming to follow in her footsteps.

Speaking with ESSENCE Now host Makho Ndlovou and Digital Director Yolanda Sangweni on the 2018 ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood red carpet, the stunning Black Panther star was affirming and encouraging with her words of wisdom for young Black women making their way into the industry.

“If there’s nothing else that you can envision yourself doing, then you go for it,” she said. “Continue to learn and to grow. Watch others work, appreciate the work of others and when you walk into the room, know that you have everything they’re looking for.”

A proud wife, mother and Hollywood icon who has embodied a rare standard of excellence in both her personal and professional life that continues to inspire a new generation, the “Queen Mutha” also employed young women to always give it their best effort.

“Always give it your best. Your best step, your best faith, your best footing…the best of your heart.”
