Want Motivation? Get Started Here.

The Global Connections for Women Foundations have invited an inspiring group of female thought-leaders across various industries whom our community can look to for motivation. Lucky us! Our thought-leaders writes from their personal and professional reflection to equip and enrich our lives. At GC4W, we seek to uplift the voices of our leaders and connect them with our community as resources and role models. Readers can expect new and original content by our Thought Leaders to include career advice, self-care,  motherhood news and wellness tips.

The term “thought leadership” was coined decades ago by Joel Kurtzman, former Editor-of-Chief of Strategy and Business magazine and Harvard Business Review, and was defined as one who “possesses a distinctively original idea, a unique point of view, or an unprecedented insight into their industry.” With the expertise and experience of our leaders, readers can expect inspiring and informative news and advice regularly. Each leader holds a unique space in her industry and has an admirable mission, both of which have given her insights into how those in our community can become thought leaders of their own.

As a hub and network for women providing professional development, leadership advancement, and community network, we believed in women and girls and their right to create new opportunities for themselves and their communities.

What’s Hope Got to Do with It?

Written by Janice Perkins, GC4W Thought Leadership Contributor.

Everywhere we turn today we are facing new internal and external uncertainty and fear. More hate, more on fire, more loss. Optimism is the new answer. And it is not how much is in the glass. In the past I believed that the statement “glass is half full or half empty” was the way to view optimism and pessimism. What I realized over the course of my adult experiences is that life is constantly altering the amount of water in the glass.

Are You Disguising Anxiety as Ambition at Work?

Written by Dr. Beth Kaplan Kondonijakos, GC4W Thought Leadership Contributor.

A good friend of mine, Justin, came to me with a problem – he had a boss that he was dying to impress…literally. Justin was killing himself in that slow death we know all too well: staying up until 2 AM every night, perfecting PowerPoints until everything was a blur and the next day was here before he knew it.

Inclusion and Belonging: Sisters, Not Twins

Written by Dr. Beth Kaplan Kondonijakos, GC4W Thought Leadership Contributor.

Diversity, inclusion, and belonging are often grouped together in an effort to encourage fairness in today’s workplace. Inclusion and belonging, in particular, are usually exchanged for one another. In fact, upon hearing that I was writing my dissertation on “Belonging in the Workplace,” one of my professors said, “ah, belonging. That’s the new, fashionable buzzword for inclusion,” to which I replied, “inclusion and belonging are ‘sisters not twins.’”

Control is an Illusion, and How we satiate control

Written by Janice Perkins, GC4W Thought-Leadership Contributor.

Control is an illusion. How do we satiate our need for control in a prolonged crisis? We have a basic human need for stability, predictability, certainty, and consistency. Looking back over the last two years, all four of those things have been removed from most of our daily lives due to the pandemic. Our minds use control as a way to find a balance in these four things so as to remove fear and take us out of fight/flight/freeze..

Why Being a Leader Doesn’t Mean Acting Like a Man

Written by Zoë Randolph, GC4W Thought Leadership Contributor.

For years longer than I’d like to admit, I prided myself on my ability to be one of the guys. And while acting like a teenage boy, for better or for worse, didn’t require me to go particularly far out of my way, my mistake was rooted in thinking that my personality had value because it was male-like, rather than because it was my own.

You are valuable! Yes, you. I am talking to the person reading this article. How many times have you questioned your value? At work? At home? As parents and workers? We often let the imposter inside us tell us we are not. But I am here today to tell you that it’s not just you
