Actress Kristen Bell gets real about mental health in a poignant new video. She says “Don’t be fooled by this game of perfection that humans play”.

The Child Mind Institutes new campaign#MyYoungerSelf is aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. The Child Mind Institue is a program that transforms the lives of children struggling with mental health or learning disorders, with compassionate clinical care, innovative research, high-impact awareness campaigns, free online resources, and direct action in schools and communities.

#MyYoungerSelf stars many well known actors, actresses, and athletes, who discuss how they overcame issues growing up, to give hope to younger kids going through similar problems. The “Bad Moms” star, Kristen Bell, revealed what advice she’d give her younger self about anxiety and depression in the clip released on Tuesday.

“Don’t be fooled by this game of perfection that humans play,” said Bell, who has experienced both conditions since she was 18. “Because of Instagram and magazines and TV shows, they strive for a certain aesthetic and everything looks so beautiful and people seem like they don’t have any problems, but everyone’s human,” she added.

Bell, 37, said “everyone has problems” and “feels yucky on the inside sometimes”. She added that people have an obligation to “take care of yourself from the inside out because that’s how you can truly feel beautiful”.

“There are resources out there if you’re feeling anxious, of people to talk to and doctors to interact with and there are tons of solutions out there for you, you are not alone,” she added. “Never feel embarrassed or ashamed about the uniqueness that is you, because there are people out there to help and we are all just human, and you can do it .”
